turism&travel : Midwest winter weather may cause flight delays

Friday 10 December 2010

The US midwest is expecting a big winter storm bringing rain, snow, and wind today and tomorrow (December 10 and 11, 2010).
It is expected this severe winter weather will affect travel throughout the region. States exepected to be affected are Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

The following announcements have been received from the airline community.

DELTA AIR LINES

Delta is offering customers whose flight plans may be affected by winter weather in the Midwest the ability to make one-time changes to their travel schedules without fees. Delta's weather advisory encourages customers to consider postponing or re-routing their travel to avoid possible inconvenience from expected flight delays.

Customers booked on Delta-ticketed flights to, from, or through the following states on Friday and Saturday, December 10-11 may make a one-time change to their travel schedule without fees. Customers may immediately rebook for travel before or after their original travel dates as long as new flights are ticketed by December 11, 2010.

Flight delays are possible December 10-11 as a result of winter weather, and Delta may proactively reduce flight schedules to minimize delays. All customers should check their flight status at www.delta.com before arriving at the airport.

Travel for changed itineraries must begin by December 13, 2010. Changes to origin or destination may result in a fare increase. Any fare difference between the original ticket and the new ticket will be collected at the time of rebooking. Customers whose flights are cancelled may request refunds.

Delta will continue to monitor the weather and provide the latest updates at www.delta.com .
